Another Porsche 911 in for it’s New Car Protection. This time a gorgeous Carrera 4S finished in Sapphire Blue Metallic, the 20″ 911 Turbo Wheels, and the interior rounded out in the very classy Graphite Blue/Chalk combination.
The owner new to get it in immediately for it’s surfaces to be properly protected from the Colorado roads and unforgiving environment. For this project we went with our Driver’s Package, which includes the Full Hood, Full Fenders, Front Bumper, Mirrors, Door Cups, Rocker Panels (replacing the Porsche factory film), and Rear Bumper Impact Area covered in XPEL Ultimate Clear Bra followed by GYEON Quartz Q2 Mohs Protective Quartz Coating.
XPEL Ultimate Clear Bra, or Paint Protection Film, is an 8.5 mil thick optically clear urethane that is designed to protect your new cars paint from rock chips and damaging road debris impacts. These chips are unsightly, lower the value of the vehicle, and can result in a trip to the body shop. XPEL Ultimate utilizes a Self Healing Top Coat, that by applying heat, will self correct minor scratches from every day use. This film is also backed by a 10 year warranty.
To top it off, we installed several layers of GYEON Quartz Q2 Mohs Protective Coating. Q2 Mohs is a long term quartz, or ceramic, coating that is designed to provide real protection against UV and chemical damage far superior to what a traditional wax or sealant is capable of. The coating is designed to last for years and not months. Once coated, the surface will repel dirt and debris making regular wash maintenance fast and safe. So how does it all get done? The first step is always a thorough cleaning of the entire vehicle. We want a perfectly pure surface to interact with the Clear Bra adhesive, as well as ensure that no contaminant migrates in to the working area during installation.
Steam is used to safely remove the Porsche factory clear bra from the rear fender impact areas.
The paint is also polished to a perfect gloss, removing all factory defects or any defects introduced during transport.
Once the car is clean and the paint in perfect shape, we move on to the Clear Bra installation. Cleanliness of install is of utmost importance. We also wrap all edges for a near invisible installation. You truly cannot tell the covered from the uncovered panels when we are finished.
Once the Clear Bra is complete, we move on to the GYEON Quartz Coating. The first step is to make sure that the paint is again perfectly clean. We use GYEON Q2M Prep to remove any polishing oils or left over elements from the wash soap that can interfere with the Coatings long term bond to the paint.
After Prep we are ready to apply GYEON Q2 Mohs. Q2 Mohs is a fantastic coating that we have seen perform exceptionally well in the harsh Colorado environment. It will deliver a ton of gloss while providing capable protection from UV and Chemical damage like water spots and bird droppings for 2-3 years.
After the coating has been removed and cured, the finished results are stunning. We now have a properly protected 911 4S that looks better than the day it rolled off the lot.
