GET A FREE ESTIMATEWhile it may be somewhat controversial among die-hard Porsche enthusiasts, the 992.2 generation Porsche 911 is an excellent evolution of the well-loved 992.1 generation of the same car. This example, the Carrera T Cabriolet variant, is only available in a manual transmission, making it an excellent driver’s car.
We finished this Carrera T with Full-Body PPF and our Level 2 Ceramic Coating Package to keep its stunning finish looking new for years to come.
step 1: Decontamination wash
Here at Denver Auto Shield, we start every project with a complete decontamination wash to prepare the vehicle for all of its upcoming services. We take this wash extremely seriously as, in many ways, it determines the quality of our PPF and Ceramic Coating installations.
Before we begin decontaminating the paint, we’ll focus on getting the wheels absolutely spotless. Using a specialized wheel cleaner and a variety of brushes, we’ll clean both the faces and barrels of the wheels, making sure that we’re removing all dirt, grime and residual brake dust.

With wheels now out of the way, we’ll begin working on the paint. For our pre-wash, we use Gyeon Q2M Foam. This will remove most of the large dirt and grime from the paint, allowing us to move onto our contact wash and reducing the risk of adding scratches and swirls to the paint on this 911.
For our contact wash, we always utilize the two-bucket method, meaning that we have a one bucket dedicated to saturating our Gyeon Q2M Smoothie with our wash soap, Gyeon Q2M Bathe, and the other bucket is dedicated to rinsing our wash mitt so that there are no contaminants left in the wash mitt after each panel. Using this method, we’ll wash the entire car.
The next step in our wash is where most of the decontamination happens. First, we’ll spray the entire car with Gyeon Q2M Iron which is a chemical decontaminant capable of removing many surface-level contaminants. Once that is rinsed off, we’ll use Q2M Clay Lube and a clay bar to remove any remaining contaminants that are embedded in the paint. This leaves us with a perfectly smooth surface that’s ready for either PPF or ceramic coatings.
Step 2: Paint Protection Film
Because this client wanted ultimate protection for their new Carrera T, they opted for Full-Body Paint Protection Film. This package covers all exterior painted, gloss black, or carbon fiber surfaces with PPF, ensuring that the entire vehicle is protected from rock chips, scratches, swirls and other minor impacts.
To ensure a seamless install without any stretching or distortion, we always use a specialized software and a large PPF printer to custom design and print clear bra for any vehicle. Once our installers have all of the film for this car designed and printed, they can begin installing.
Moving one panel at a time, the installers will spray a slip solution on the surface of the vehicle before carefully placing the PPF on the panel. After making sure the film is correctly placed and setting anchor points, they will use a squeegee to push the slip solution out from underneath the film, allowing the clear bra’s adhesive to stick to the paint.
After repeating this process on each panel and finishing the vehicle, we let the car sit overnight to allow any moisture to dry. The next morning, we come back to the vehicle, thoroughly inspecting it for any unwrapped edges, touch ups or air pockets that need to be taken care of. Once the PPF installers are 100% happy with how the film looks, this 911 will land under our light booth for Ceramic Coating.

step 3: ceramic coating
Between our several Ceramic Coating offerings, our Level 2 Ceramic Coating System was the clear choice for this client since they were looking to get the most benefits out of their coating. Among these benefits are: UV and chemical resistance, hydrophobicity, easy cleaning and increased gloss.
This 911 now has Full-Body PPF, so there’s no need to do a paint correction. With that in mind, we can jump straight into our coating prep which consists of Gyeon Q2M Prep and Q2M WaterSpot. These products are highly effective at removing any lubricants, waterspots, or fingerprints, leaving behind a perfect surface for the ceramic coating.
To begin the ceramic coating process, our professional detailers will first saturate an applicator with our ceramic coating. Then, moving in a cross hatch pattern, they will spread the coating over the first panel. After about 30 seconds, the coating has flashed and is ready to be removed.
Using both a long-fiber and short-fiber microfiber towel, we’ll remove all excess coating and leave behind a glossy, protected surface. The short-fiber towel will remove most of the excess with the first pass, then we follow that up with the long-fiber towel, which is able to penetrate deeper into the paint to remove every drop of excess coating.
To complete this process, we’ll detail this 911’s interior and apply a tire dressing. Once those are completed, this vehicle is ready for delivery!
