This G87 M2 CS is no different. More power, less weight, and a whole lot of carbon fiber make this vehicle a distinct upgrade from the already capable base M2.
This example, finished in Portimao Blue, received our Driver’s Package GYEON Paint Protection Film and our Level 2 GYEON Ceramic Coating System.
Step 1: Decontamination Wash
Even though it may be a somewhat underappreciated step, the decontamination wash sets up the vehicle for a perfect PPF and Ceramic Coating install later on. With this in mind, we take this step very seriously to achieve the best outcome for your vehicle.
To begin our wash process, we typically start with the wheels since they are usually the dirtiest and it’s best to not spread that dirt and grime throughout the rest of the vehicle. For this, we use
GYEON Q2M Iron WheelCleaner and
Q2M Tire Cleaner in combination with a variety of brushes to completely clean and decontaminate these stunning bronze wheels since they will be receiving a coating.

With wheels clean, we’re able to move onto our pre-wash for all of the other external surfaces. We keep our prewash very simple yet effective with GYEON Q2M Foam. This product is excellent at removing large surface contaminants, making our contact wash exponentially safer for your paint.
Once all of the foam is rinsed off, we’re able to start the contact wash on this M2 CS. This step begins with setting up the 2 bucket method: filling one bucket up with water and the other with water and a generous amount of
GYEON Q2M Bathe. Then, using a
GYEON Smoothie we’ll wash the car top-to-bottom, panel-by panel making sure to rinse our wash mitt in between panels.
Our wash process is essentially broken into two separate sections. The first is the cleaning, which we have just completed, and the second is the decontamination process. For this, we’ll use GYEON Q2M Iron and Q2M Clay Lube with a clay bar. In combination, these products remove all chemical and embedded contaminants, leaving behind a perfect surface to install PPF and ceramic coating on.
Finally we’ll blow dry the entire car using a
BLO Car Dryer, then move this M2 into the PPF installation area.

Step 2: Paint Protection Film
This client opted for our Driver’s Package GYEON Paint Protection Film Package for their vehicle. This is our most well-rounded package as it not only covers the entire front end of your vehicle, but it also protects some of the other most vulnerable panels, giving you some of the protection of a Full-Body but at a price point closer to that of a Full-Front.
Before we begin installing on the vehicle, we’ll start on the GYEON Cut Software to design and print specific clear bra patterns for each of the panels on this vehicle. This allows us to be more precise with our installs and avoid unnecessary wasting of PPF, saving you money.
With all of the film designed and printed, it’s time for our installers to begin with the vehicle. First, they’ll use GYEON Slip and saturate the entire panel so that the PPF can ‘float’ over the paint and allowing the installers to properly align the film on the panel. Once they set anchor points and make sure that everything is aligned, they’ll use a squeegee to push the slip solution out from underneath the film, allowing it to adhere to the paint.
Using the same method, the installers will move around the vehicle until they have completed every panel included in the Driver’s Package. After letting the car sit overnight, we’ll go back over the car, taking care of any unwrapped edges and fixing any final touch ups before the car will land under our ceramic coating light booth.
Step 3: Ceramic Coating
In order to get this Portimao Blue paint looking better than when it left the showroom, the client asked for our Level 2 Ceramic Coating System. This package includes a double layer of GYEON Ceramic Coatings on every painted or carbon fiber surface, as well as dedicated ceramic coatings for the wheels and windshield, effectively protecting and enhancing every exterior surface on this M2.
Since there is some exposed paint not covered by paint protection film, it's important that we do a thorough
paint correction to remove any scratching or swirling before we install the ceramic coating. A common misconception about ceramic coating is that the gloss boost you see after a ceramic coating comes from the coating itself. In fact, much of the gloss you see comes from the paint correction step since it removes up to 75% of surface imperfections, making your paint look so much clearer and giving you the gloss you’re looking for. With that said, the ceramic coating itself does provide
some
gloss, but not to the same degree as the paint correction.
With any exposed paint polished, our professional detailer will use GYEON Q2M Prep and Q2M WaterSpot to remove any remaining lubricants, water spots or grease left over on the paint so that the coating has the perfect surface to bond to.
Starting off with GYEON Infinite Base Type 1 as a base layer, we’ll liberally pour the coating onto an applicator. Then, working in a cross hatch pattern, we’ll spread the coating over the panel. First using a short-fiber GYEON Bald Wipe, we’ll wipe the excess coating off and then follow that up with a long-fiber GYEON Soft Wipe, allowing the towel to penetrate deeper into the paint and ensuring no high spots are left behind.
Using the same method, we’ll finish coating the car with Base Type 1 and repeat the entire process with a topcoat, specifically Infinite TopCoat Type 2. We have found that this combination of coatings provides the best gloss, hydrophobicity, chemical resistance, and overall best outcome for your vehicle.
To round out this project, we’ll dress the tires with
GYEON Q2M Tire and complete a quick interior detailer before letting the client know that their G87 M2 CS is ready to pick up.
