The Porsche Taycan embodies everything that many other EVs strive for: a distinctly Porsche design language, a plethora of high-tech features and enough range and power to enjoy your vehicle while also retaining a high level of practicality and usability.

This Porsche Taycan 4S finished in Chalk over a Black interior, came to our shop for Full-Front Paint Protection Film and our Level 1 Ceramic Coating, our most effective and cost-effective combination of services for a daily driver.

Step 1: Decontamination Wash

It’s crucial for us at Denver Auto Shield to start every project with a complete decontamination wash to remove anything and everything that could interfere with a perfect PPF and Ceramic Coating installation.

Before we spend any time decontaminating the paint, we’ll focus on getting the wheels perfectly clean. Using
Gyeon Q2M Iron Wheelcleaner, a variety of brushes including a barrel brush, face brush and tire brush and a dedicated wheel bucket, we’ll scrub any decontaminants off the wheels before rinsing them off and moving onto the paintwork.

Now, some people would just straight into a contact wash at this point, but as experienced detailers, we understand the importance of utilizing an effective prewash. For this, we use
Gyeon Q2M Foam which is perfect for removing much of the larger surface grime and dirt, reducing the risk of scratching during the contact wash for our next step.

The two-bucket wash method is a standard practice in detailing and we’re no different, so we’ll first get one bucket filled with about 20 pumps of Gyeon Q2M Bathe and water, and our rinse bucket will be filled with just water. Moving top to bottom we’ll wash the car using a Gyeon Q2M Smoothie, making sure to rinse the wash mitt in between each panel.

Now that we have clean paint around the vehicle, we’ll get started on the proper decontamination steps. First things first, we’ll use
Gyeon Q2M Iron to chemically decontaminate the paint and begin breaking down some of the larger, embedded contaminants. Then, once the Iron is rinsed off, we’ll use a clay bar and Gyeon Q2M Clay Lube to remove any remaining contaminants.

To round out our wash process, we’ll touchlessly dry the vehicle with a
BLO Car Dryer to avoid introducing any additional scratching or swirling to the paint. Once the car is completely dry, it will land in our PPF booth for its next service.

Step 2: Paint Protection Film

This Taycan 4S is a daily driver for this client, so for the best protection for the entire front end of their vehicle, which tends to me the most vulnerable to damage, they chose our Full-Front Package. As a Gyeon Partner Studio, we exclusively use both Gyeon PPF and Gyeon Ceramic Coatings since we have found that Gyeon offers the most consistently high-quality material currently on the market.

Using the Gyeon Cut software, we’ll begin by printing patterns specifically designed for this Taycan. By pre-printing our clear bra, we can ensure that there will be no stretching or distortion in your film as well as giving you the peace of mind knowing that there are no blades near your paint.

Once the PPF is designed and printed for each panel, we can get started properly installing. Our factory-trained installers will begin by spraying the first panel, usually the hood, with Gyeon Q2M PPF Slip, an effective slip solution designed for installing paint protection film. Once the panel is sufficiently saturated, the film is laid onto the panel. After setting anchor points and aligning each edge, our installers will use a squeegee to push the PPF Slip out from underneath the Gyeon PPF. This allows the film’s adhesive to set onto the paint, leaving an invisible layer or protection.

Moving panel-by-panel, our installers will use the same method to finish the Full-Front on this Taycan. After achieving perfect conformity around details and wrapping all edges, we will allow the car to sit overnight to let any remaining moisture dry. The next morning, our installers will spend several hours with the car, inspecting it and correcting any touch ups for a perfect install.

Step 3: Ceramic Coating

Now for this Taycan’s final service: Ceramic Coating. For great protection at a cost-effective price point, we installed our Level 1 Ceramic Coating System. As mentioned above, we exclusively use Gyeon Ceramic Coatings and this vehicle is no different. For our Level One Package, we install a single, durable layer of Gyeon Q2 Infinite Base Type 1.

The Level 1 Ceramic Coating System is the perfect solution for everyone looking for all of the benefits of a ceramic coating at a lower price point. From this package, you can look forward to increased hydrophobicity, easier cleaning, and UV and chemical resistance, all lasting for up to 3-4 years with daily use and regular maintenance.

A common misconception of ceramic coatings is that on their own, they will make your car significantly more glossy and give it that ‘new car look’. While it is true that ceramic coatings do provide a boost in the gloss of your paint, most significant gains you get to the appearance of your vehicle will actually come from the paint correction process before the ceramic coating. Paint correction from Denver Auto Shield will remove up to 75% of surface defects, making your car look better than it did when you purchased it.

With that in mind, before we install our Gyeon Ceramic Coating, we’ll go ahead and use an orbital polisher and
Gyeon Q2M Polish to do a one-stage paint correction on any painted surfaces that aren’t covered by paint protection film.

Now that we have a smooth and corrected surface, we can begin preparing the car for its coating. This will primarily consist of a thorough wipe-down in Gyeon Q2M Prep and Q2M WaterSpot to remove any lubricants, polish dust, or water spots from the surface of this Taycan to ensure a perfect ceramic coating application.

To begin the ceramic coating process, we’ll pour the Infinite Base Type 1 Ceramic Coating onto a specialized applicator, saturating it enough so that it will spread over an entire panel. Moving in a cross-hatch pattern, our professional detailer will spread the ceramic coating over the panel. After about 30 seconds, the coating has flashed and bonded with the paint, and we’ll use both a long-fiber and short-fiber microfiber towel to remove any excess coating, making sure to not leave any high spots behind.

Once we have coated the entire vehicle using this method, we’ll vacuum the interior, wipe down interior surfaces with Gyeon Q2M Interior Detailer and apply Gyeon Q2M Tire for our tire dressing and this Porsche Taycan 4S is ready for delivery to the client.
