Car enthusiasts know that when you find the right car, it's always worth a journey to pick it up. This is a very similar scenario for the owner of this Lotus Emira. Coming from out of state, they found this vehicle available in Denver and knew it was the one.
Just one question remained for the owners: how do we get our new vehicle home? They decided to do what every enthusiast wants to do with a new car and road trip all the way back home in their Emira.
With that said, they knew how risky it was to drive their new car hundreds of miles home without any protection. That’s where Denver Auto Shield comes in. To avoid any rock chips or scratching on their way home and for almost the life of the vehicle, they reached out to us for a GYEON PPF install.
Understanding GYEON Paint Protection Film
Let’s start with the basics. Paint Protection Film is a transparent, polyurethane film designed to be installed on your vehicle to protect its paint. It’s tough, durable and designed to absorb most light physical damage that would otherwise damage your paint. This damage can include that from rock and stone chips, scratching, swirling, ice, and even UV damage and oxidization.
Clearly, PPF is an excellent solution for protecting your ride; however, GYEON has taken clear bra to an entirely new level. GYEON PPF is setting the new industry standard for paint protection film.
As a customer, you can look forward to the clearest and most transparent film on the market, allowing the beautiful color of your car to be on full unobstructed view. Additionally, the film has excellent self-healing properties, allowing small nicks and imperfections to disappear with exposure to a sufficient heat source.
From an installer perspective like Denver Auto Shield, it’s an extremely easy film to install, meaning that you as a customer will get an even better installation every time. Wrapping edges, aligning details and designing patterns is a breeze, ensuring that you’ll get the best final product.

What’s Our Process for Preparing Cars for GYEON PPF?
Now that we have a solid understanding of what makes GYEON PPF special, let’s talk about how we prep cars for an installation. To be succinct, we use the entire GYEON range of products from top to bottom to ensure that your car is getting the best care and we are setting ourselves up for success.
You may be asking yourself: “What GYEON products does Denver Auto Shield use?”. The answer really depends on what area of the car we’re working on and what the goal is.
We’ll start this decontamination wash with the wheels. Even though they obviously won’t be receiving clear bra, we’ll still get them perfectly clean using
Q2M Iron WheelCleaner,
Q2M Tire Cleaner and a variety of specialized brushes.
For our pre-wash step, we’ll use an extremely effective product,
Q2M Foam, to remove any loose surface contaminants, making our contact wash MUCH more safe for your paint.
Now for the contact wash, we’ll use Q2M Bathe, a Q2M Smoothie and the two bucket method. This will get your paint perfectly clean but not decontaminated. Dirt, grime, and most residues will be removed by this step, but embedded contaminants such as brake and rail dust will not be.
For those contaminants and any others,
Q2M Iron is the product for the task at hand. We’ll saturate the whole car with Iron, which will dissolve and degrade most surface level contaminants. Once that’s rinsed off, we use
Q2M Clay Lube and a clay bar to remove any remaining, embedded contaminants.
Drying towels can hold dirt and grime, so to avoid swirling any paint or introducing lint to the surface, we will use a
BLO Car Dryer to dry the entire vehicle without ever touching it.
How is PPF Installed?
Before we ever touch the vehicle, we’ll actually start the installation process at the computer. Using a specialized software and a large printer commonly known as a plotter, we are able to custom design and print paint protection film patterns specifically for your vehicle. This way, we can make note of and design patterns around small details such as cameras and parking sensors. Another benefit of pre-printing PPF is that there will never be sharp blades near your paintwork.
Once our installers have printed film for the entire vehicle, they can begin installing. Moving one panel at a time, they will spray the entire surface with GYEON Q2M Slip, another effective product from GYEON. Then, they will lay the film onto the panel, carefully lining up details and edges. After setting anchor points so that the film doesn't budge during the installation, the installers will use a squeegee to push all of the Slip from underneath the film. This allows the PPF’s adhesive to stick to the paint. Finally they will carefully wrap each edge before moving to the next panel.
Once they have finished one of our three PPF package offerings, a Full-Front on this Emira, we’ll typically let the car sit overnight to allow any moisture to completely dry. When we come back to it in the morning, we’ll spend several hours combing over the vehicle and correcting any touch-ups or unwrapped edges. With this Emira completely finished, our installers can shift their focus to the next project, currently a Mercedes G63 AMG.
Conclusion
After this blog post, hopefully you have a better understanding of what PPF is, why we like GYEON PPF so much and how it’s installed. After operating in Colroado for a decade, we know Colorado has some of the toughest roads in the country and why PPF is absolutely crucial for any vehicle, but especially one that spends time on Colorado roads.
